Job summary

Airbus Portugal SA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support ASA Procurement Cost & Value Engineering, interfacing with internal and external stakeholders in a hybrid role based in Lisbon. The position focuses on evaluating suppliers, defining technical specs, and driving cost-optimisation projects within a global aerospace context.

Ideal candidates hold an engineering degree, have strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, and are proficient in English (German a plus).

Qualifications

• Engineering diploma or master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Solid knowledge of manufacturing composite and/or metallic materials.
• Understanding of production and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing, focused factory and six sigma concepts.
• Experience in project management.
• Procurement exposure is a plus.
• Ability to analyse and present technical information.
• Strong analytical skills and structured approach.
• Good presentation skills and teamwork.
• English negotiation level; German a plus.

Responsibilities

• Act as the technical interface of purchasing to Supply Chain and suppliers.
• Create and validate technical specs for work transfers or relocation packages.
• Assess industrial concepts and feasibility of work packages.
• Evaluate supplier offers for production times and optimization potential.
• Analyze technical and commercial component information and manufacturing processes.
• Lead design-to-cost projects with suppliers (DtC/DtV, Lean).
• Conduct technical shop floor assessments at suppliers.
• Initiate and track improvement measures at supplier sites.
• Support audits as a technical expert.
