Job summary

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced High Voltage Project Engineer for major Data Centre projects in the Madrid area, Spain. The role requires strong HV civil works knowledge, grid interface experience, and the ability to manage contractors while representing the client’s interests across design and construction.

The successful candidate will oversee end-to-end HV substation design, coordinate interfaces with power systems, support commissioning, and ensure safety, quality and regulatory

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering (BSc / MSc or equivalent)
• Strong background in HV substations, transmission/distribution projects or grid-related civil works
• Construction sector experience, ideally within a Data Centre environment
• Exposure to large scale complex projects, collaborating effectively and directly with client
• Excellent stakeholder management
• Ability to manage multiple interfaces and stakeholders simultaneously
• Experience in data centre projects is a strong advantage
• Fluent in Spanish and very good English language skills
• Willingness to be present on-site as required

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end HV substation design activities from concept studies to detailed design
• Coordinate interfaces between HV infrastructure and internal facility power systems
• Support and oversee commissioning activities and IST
• Coordinate HV civil engineering packages for grid connection projects
• Act as the client's on-site representative with TSOs, DSOs, EPCs and contractors
• Review designs, method statements, drawings, and technical documentation
• Ensure adherence to regulations, safety standards, quality requirements and project specs
• Monitor project risks, change management activities and progress reporting
