The Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Technician is responsible for supporting the implementation and maintenance of health, safety, and environmental programs. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies to promote a safe and healthy workplace and achieve environmental goals.

Role And Responsibilities
  • Support in the development and implementation of HSE policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Participate in risk assessments, identifying risks and potential environmental impacts within the company to ensure an effective level of protection and adequate workplace monitoring.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and prepare detailed reports with recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety and environment regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety and environment inspections, incidents, and training activities.
  • Collaborate with first aid, firefighting, and worker evacuation, ensuring measures are in place and responsible personnel are identified, while maintaining contact with external emergency services.
  • Provide support during emergency response situations and participate in emergency drills.
  • Perform the PPE records and respective needs to purchase, and ensure equipment is in good working condition.
  • Participate in periodic communications related to HSE for the legal entities.
  • Ensure proper identification, storage, and forwarding of waste to licensed operators, and establish contact with them to guarantee correct implementation.
  • Support waste management best practices, ensuring implementation and compliance with all applicable legal requirements.
  • Collaborate in all legally required health, safety, and environmental monitoring.
  • Stay updated on new regulations and best practices in health, safety, and environmental management.
  • Collaborate with other departments to promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
Qualifications And Education Requirements
  • Degree in Engineering or Management;
  • Certificate for Técnico Superior de Segurança e Saúde no Trabalho is mandatory;
  • Training in Environmental Management;
  • Training in Emergency Plans, preferred;
  • Minimum of 3 years’ manufacturing and/or industrial experience in a dedicated health, safety and environment management role;
  • Good knowledge of the Portuguese Health, Safety and Environment legislation and regulation;
  • Capacity to be steadfast and observing and making observe the health, safety and environment policy;
  • Highly capable of multi-tasking, with minimal supervision;
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude;
  • Strong proven ability to effectively use Microsoft Office Applications;
  • Good level of English, written and oral.
