KWAN is seeking a Head of Smart Solution Platform to lead the development of a next-generation robotics and logistics platform. You will own the product domain, technical direction, and architecture while guiding engineering teams and delivering high-impact solutions.

The role requires strong backend, distributed systems, and cloud-native expertise, with hands-on leadership and a focus on long-term platform evolution. Hybrid work with on-site presence in Tagus Park, Oeiras.

About KWAN

We are looking for a Head of Smart Solution Platform to lead the development of a next-generation robotics and logistics platform!

What we are looking for:

• Proven experience leading and developing software engineering teams and technical leads;
• Strong background in backend engineering, software architecture, and distributed systems;
• Experience designing scalable, service-oriented, and event-driven platforms;
• Deep understanding of concurrency, asynchronous processing, APIs, data contracts, fault tolerance, and system integration;
• Strong knowledge of relational databases, transactions, data modelling, schema evolution, and data ownership;
• Experience translating product strategy into technical roadmaps, priorities, delivery plans, and staffing needs;
• Ability to balance customer requirements, delivery commitments, engineering quality, and long‑term platform evolution;
• Experience with cloud-native environments, Docker, and Kubernetes;
• Excellent communication skills and professional proficiency in English.

Experience with Rust, Python, robotics, AMRs, fleet management, logistics orchestration, warehouse automation, optimization, simulation, or industrial software will be highly valued.

This is a hands‑on engineering leadership role with ownership of the product domain, technical direction, architecture, team development, and delivery. It is not a traditional people‑management or purely architectural position.

Work Location & Flexibility
