KWAN in Lisbon is seeking an experienced AI Engineer to join their team on exciting projects transforming operational efficiency using AI. You will work on developing AI-powered products in a hands-on, collaborative environment, directly with founders and decision-makers. Ideal candidates will have over 3 years of software engineering experience, proficiency with AI tools like Claude Code or OpenAI Codex, and a strong sense of ownership. We’re looking for an AI Engineer to join KWAN on projects where AI is already changing how companies operate day-to-day. This is a Hybrid challenge with 2 office days per week in Lisbon.

You’ll work on real products used in production: agents connected to ERPs, RAG systems for internal knowledge, AI workflows replacing manual operations, and tools teams actually depend on after launch. The environment is hands-on, and highly collaborative.

The Challenge

• Build AI-powered products from idea to production;
• Work directly with founders and decision-makers;
• Develop with LLMs, RAG pipelines, agents, and automation workflows;
• Prototype fast, iterate fast, improve based on real usage;
• Use AI coding assistants daily to move faster and execute better;
• Help shape both the product and the engineering culture.

What you bring to the table

• 3+ years of experience in software engineering;
• Real hands-on experience building with AI tooling;
• Strong builder mentality and high ownership;
• Comfortable with ambiguity and startup environments;
• Someone already using tools like Claude Code or OpenAI Codex as part of their workflow.
