Job summary

Carrier Global Corporation, based in Portuagal, is seeking a Hardware Engineer to design schematics, develop PCB layouts, and validate boards using Altium Designer. The role involves cross-functional collaboration with firmware, mechanical, and systems teams to deliver robust hardware solutions for HVAC and transport refrigeration technologies.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in hardware design, strong circuit knowledge, and experience with lab testing and PCB validation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of hardware design experience including schematics capture and PCB layout.
• Strong knowledge of analog/digital circuits, power electronics and signal integrity.

Responsibilities

• Design electronic schematics for power and control boards based on system requirements.
• Create PCB layouts in Altium Designer focusing on SI, EMC/EMI, thermal management and DFM/DFA.
• Select components and define footprints to meet project specs.
• Define and execute PCB test plans, bring-up, debugging, and validation of prototypes.
• Support bring-up and troubleshooting with lab equipment (oscilloscope, multimeter, power supplies, thermal camera).
• Collaborate with firmware, system and mechanical engineers for hardware-software-mechanical integration.
• Prepare and maintain documentation: schematics, layout files, BOMs, test reports, design reviews.
• Support manufacturing and industrialization with PCB suppliers to resolve production issues.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards and safety requirements.
• Stay current with industry trends and new capabilities.
