Job summary

OLX is hiring a Mid Frontend Engineer to join our remote-from-Portugal tech teams. You will contribute to scalable UI components across OLX brands using TypeScript, React, Next.js, and Node.js, while embracing AI-assisted development and strong testing practices.

Work with product and design to transform specs into robust interfaces, participate in internal learning sessions, and enjoy a fully remote role with office options in Lisboa or Porto.

Qualifications

• Proficient in TypeScript, React, Next.js/React Router, and Node.js.
• Experience building accessible, scalable frontend UI.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows and testing.

Responsibilities

• Actively contribute to frontend projects, building accessible, performant UI components for millions of users across markets.
• Leverage AI development agents to accelerate tasks while preserving code health.
• Maintain component docs, type definitions, and test suites for human and AI navigation.

Join Our Team as Mid Frontend Engineer!

Join one of our cross-functional teams in Motors, Real Estate, OLX Classifieds or Platforms, working remotely from Portugal.As part of our 1,000+ tech team across multiple locations, you’ll collaborate with engineers, SREs, and product teams to build scalable, high-impact solutions, while reporting to an Engineering Manager who will support your growth and impact.

You’ll work on a mixed tech stack based on a microservices architecture, entirely on Amazon Web Services, with open source libs like React and/or NextJS.

Who we are looking for:

• AI-Assisted Engineering Workflow: You actively integrate agentic tools (such as Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent) into your team's daily development workflow to write, refactor, and speed up code delivery.

• Quality & Validation Ownership: You treat AI-generated code as a first draft, not a final deliverable - you rigorously review, test, refactor, and take full accountability for code quality, security, and performance.

• Proficient in Modern Frontend Tech: Solid hands-on proficiency in TypeScript, React, Next.js/React Router, and Node.js.

• Practical Context Awareness: You understand how to provide clear constraints, component boundaries, and context to AI agents so they generate accurate, mergeable UI code.

• Testing & Guardrails Mindset: You rely on automated testing (Jest/React Testing Library, Playwright, E2E) as crucial guardrails to ensure AI-assisted changes do not cause regressions.

• Ownership Mindset: Eager to understand how frontend systems work end-to-end and embrace a "you build it, you run it, you own it" philosophy.

• Collaborative Team Player: A strong communicator who is open to technical discussions, cross-team collaboration, and sharing AI tips and prompt/context strategies with peers.

What you will be doing:

• Feature Execution & Delivery: Actively contribute to frontend projects, building accessible, performant, and reliable UI components for millions of users across multiple markets.

• Leveraging AI for Speed & Quality: Use AI development agents to solve technical tasks faster, maintain codebase health, and reduce repetitive boilerplate work.

• Maintaining Codebase & Context Health: Keep component documentation, type definitions, and test suites up to date so that both human teammates and AI agents can navigate the codebase smoothly.

• Ensuring High Quality & Reliability: Write comprehensive tests, lead code reviews, and debug production issues, maintaining a strong focus on great user experience, web performance and overall application architecture .

• Collaborating with Product & Design: Work closely with product managers and UX designers to transform product specs into actionable engineering tasks and seamless user interfaces.

• Engaging with the AI Community: Participate in our internal engineering learning sessions, adopting best practices for AI-driven frontend development.
