act digital is seeking a Firmware Security Engineer to join our automotive engineering team, focusing on security-critical embedded software and secure firmware technologies for connected vehicle platforms.

You will implement secure boot, secure flashing, cryptographic libraries, and key provisioning, while aligning with MISRA-C and automotive cybersecurity standards. Remote in Portugal; eligibility required for residents.

Qualificações

• Proven experience in security-focused embedded firmware development.
• Strong understanding of cryptographic fundamentals and secure software practices.
• Familiarity with MISRA-C guidelines and automotive cybersecurity concepts.

Responsabilidades

• Implement and maintain security-critical firmware components, including Secure Boot and Secure Flashing.
• Integrate and configure cryptographic libraries and secure key provisioning mechanisms.
• Develop and maintain unit tests for firmware modules and interfaces with HSMs.
• Support automotive cybersecurity requirements and promote secure coding practices.

We are looking for a talented Firmware Security Engineer to join an engineering team developing next-generation automotive solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to work on security-critical embedded software, helping protect connected and intelligent vehicle platforms through the implementation of secure firmware technologies and cryptographic solutions.

Location: Portugal (Remote)

Eligibility: Only candidates currently residing in Portugal will be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain security-critical firmware components, including:
• Secure Boot
• Secure Flashing
• Integrate and configure cryptographic libraries
• Implement secure key provisioning mechanisms
• Develop and maintain unit tests for firmware modules
• Design and implement interfaces with Hardware Security Modules (HSMs)
• Support the development of secure embedded software aligned with automotive cybersecurity requirements
• Contribute to software quality, maintainability, and security best practices

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong experience with C/C++
• Solid background in embedded firmware development
• Experience working with MISRA-C guidelines
• Familiarity with Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) on microcontrollers
• Knowledge of cryptographic fundamentals and secure software development principles
• Experience implementing or maintaining security-related firmware features

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with ISO 21434 (Automotive Cybersecurity)
• Experience in the automotive industry
• Knowledge of secure key management and provisioning processes
• Experience with embedded security architectures
