Experimental Porto is opening La Compagnie Porto and is seeking a dedicated Sommelier to join the team under the Sommelier Manager. You will advise guests on wine selections, assist with pairing, and contribute to a balanced wine list focused on Portuguese labels.

Applicants should have prior experience as a Sommelier or Assistant Sommelier, solid knowledge of Portuguese and international wines, and fluency in English and Portuguese. Availability for evenings, weekends and holidays is required.

Qualificações

• Proven sommelier or Assistant Sommelier experience.
• Strong knowledge of Portuguese and international wines.
• Fluent in English and Portuguese.
• Excellent interpersonal and service orientation.
• Knowledge of Micros/POS systems is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Advising and guiding guests on wine selection and pairing during daily service and special events.
• Ensuring customer satisfaction and contributing to an exceptional wine experience.
• Supporting the Sommelier Manager in developing and maintaining a balanced and relevant wine list, with a strong focus on Portuguese wines.
• Assisting with wine purchasing, supplier relationships and stock management.
• Contributing to cellar management, ensuring proper organization, storage and stock rotation, and taking part in regular inventories.
• Monitoring wine sales, margins and stock levels, and helping identify opportunities to improve performance.
• Participating in onboarding and training of the Sommelier team.
• Ensuring compliance with hygiene and safety regulations and proper maintenance of cellar equipment.
• Contributing to the creation and execution of wine experiences, tastings, wine dinners and other guest events.
• Acting as the Sommelier Manager’s deputy in their absence.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Under the supervision of the Sommelier Manager, you will be responsible for:

• Advising and guiding guests on wine selection and pairing during daily service and special events;
• Ensuring customer satisfaction and contributing to an exceptional wine experience;
• Supporting the Sommelier Manager in developing and maintaining a balanced and relevant wine list, with a strong focus on Portuguese wines;
• Assisting with wine purchasing, supplier relationships and stock management;
• Contributing to cellar management, ensuring proper organization, storage and stock rotation, and taking part in regular inventories;
• Monitoring wine sales, margins and stock levels, and helping identify opportunities to improve performance;

ABOUT YOU

With a genuine passion for wine and a strong sense of service, you know how to turn each guest interaction into a memorable experience.

You have proven experience working as a Sommelier or Assistant Sommelier, ideally in a similar establishment.

You have solid knowledge of Portuguese and international wines, with the ability to confidently advise guests on wine pairing.

You are dynamic, motivated and comfortable supporting, guiding and training team members.

You have strong organizational skills and autonomy, with the ability to manage priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.

You have excellent interpersonal skills and are comfortable communicating in English and Portuguese with guests, team members and suppliers.

Knowledge of Micros/POS systems would be an advantage.

You are flexible and available to work evenings, weekends and public holidays according to operational needs.
