Nitro Software in Porto, Portugal, is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a team building AI-powered APIs and automated workflows within the Nitro Automate Platform. This hybrid role combines technical leadership with product delivery ownership.

You will mentor engineers, shape architectural direction, and drive end-to-end delivery from specification to production. Strong backend/API skills, Python experience, and familiarity with AI/LLM tech are essential.

Qualificações

• 3–5+ years as an Engineering Manager leading cross-functional teams.
• Strong backend/API development background, preferably Python.
• Hands-on with AI-assisted development and production delivery.
• Experience delivering cloud-native, production-grade APIs.
• Familiarity with MCP servers, no-code tooling, or workflow platforms.
• Solid CI/CD, DevOps and Agile practices.
• Excellent communication and leadership across teams.
• Based in Porto, Portugal with ability to collaborate with Dublin team.

Engineering Manager (Hybrid)

Location: Porto, Portugal

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and grow the engineering team behind the Nitro Automate Platform. You will manage talented engineers building real‑world AI solutions – from document processing APIs to workflow automation tooling and MCP servers. This is a highly visible role at the intersection of engineering leadership and cutting‑edge AI product development.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a high‑performing team of engineers delivering AI‑powered APIs, document automation pipelines, and no‑code workflow tooling
• Drive the full engineering lifecycle from product specification through to production deployment, ensuring quality and velocity
• Champion agentic coding workflows and modern AI‑assisted development practices across your team
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and senior engineers to define technical direction and architectural standards for the Automate Platform
• Own delivery and accountability for platform features including PDF/document alteration APIs, workflow automation services, and MCP server integrations
• Foster a culture of engineering excellence, continuous improvement, and rapid iteration
• Actively identify and mitigate technical risks and delivery dependencies
• Lead stakeholder communication, providing clear visibility into team progress and technical decisions
• Contribute to and help shape company‑wide engineering best practices

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 3–5+ years as an Engineering Manager in a software development environment, with direct experience leading cross‑functional engineering teams
• Strong technical background in backend and/or API development, ideally in Python or similar modern languages
• Hands‑on experience with agentic coding workflows, AI‑assisted development, and taking software from spec to production
• Proven experience delivering cloud‑native, production‑grade APIs and developer‑facing platforms
• Experience working with AI/LLM technologies, automation frameworks, or document processing systems
• Familiarity with MCP servers, no‑code tooling, or workflow automation platforms is a strong advantage
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD, modern DevOps practices, and agile/scrum methodologies
• Excellent communication and leadership skills; comfortable influencing across engineering, product, and commercial stakeholders
• Based in Porto, Portugal with the ability to collaborate regularly with our Dublin team
