Job Purpose
To ensure the reliability, availability and optimal performance of production equipment and assets by developing and implementing effective preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance strategies. The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives, reducing equipment downtime and failures, supporting production efficiency, and contributing to the optimization, modernization and long-term sustainability of manufacturing processes, while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental and food safety standards.
Responsabilities
- Develops and implements preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance strategies and tasks to maximize equipment availability, reliability and production performance;
- Monitors and analyzes maintenance KPIs such as OEE, MTBF, MTTR and downtime trends, identifying and implementing improvement actions;
- Leads root cause analysis activities for equipment failures and recurring breakdowns, ensuring sustainable corrective and preventive actions are implemented;
- Supports troubleshooting activities on filling, labeling, capping, coding and packaging equipment (filling, assembly and packaging processes), minimizing production downtime;
- Participates in the installation, commissioning, validation and ramp-up of new production equipment and line upgrades;
- Collaborates with Production, Quality and Engineering teams to improve equipment reliability, process stability and operational efficiency;
- Identifies opportunities for automation, modernization and optimization of production assets;
- Develops and maintains maintenance procedures, work instructions, equipment standards and technical documentation;
- Ensures preventive maintenance tasks are properly planned, executed and continuously optimized through CMMS tools (Fracttal);
- Supports spare parts management activities, ensuring critical components are identified and inventory levels are maintained to support business continuity;
- Drives TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) initiatives and promotes a proactive maintenance culture across the manufacturing organization;
- Supports continuous improvement projects focused on increasing line efficiency, reducing waste and improving asset utilization;
- Coordinates external contractors and service providers during maintenance interventions and improvement projects;
- Ensures all maintenance activities are conducted in compliance with safety, environmental and food safety requirements;Provides technical guidance and support to maintenance technicians and production teams.
Requirements/Skills
- Bachelor or Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or related field;
- 2 to 5 years of experience in Maintenance Engineering within an FMCG, food & beverage, pharmaceutical, cosmetics or packaging manufacturing environment;
- Strong knowledge of preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance methodologies;
- Experience supporting high-speed automated production and packaging lines;
- Good understanding of filling, capping, labeling, coding, conveying and packaging systems;
- Knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and industrial electrical systems;
- Familiarity with PLC-controlled machinery and industrial automation systems;
- Experience in Root Cause Analysis (RCA), problem solving methodologies and reliability improvement techniques;
- Knowledge of TPM principles and continuous improvement methodologies;
- Experience using CMMS systems for maintenance planning and asset management (preference for Fracttal and SAP);
- Ability to analyze technical data and maintenance KPIs to drive decision-making;
- Good understanding of health, safety and quality standards within an FMCG manufacturing environment;
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Proactive, hands-on and results-oriented mindset;
- Good communication and teamwork skills;
- English: adequate for common business requirements.
- Experience with Labellers (CAB and Herma preferable), Videojet marking systems, Domino marking systems or similar FMCG equipment manufacturers;
- Knowledge of vision inspection systems and serialization/coding technologies (Cognex, Banner, Keyence);
- Experience with predictive maintenance technologies such as vibration analysis and thermography;
- Lean Manufacturing, TPM or Six Sigma certification;
- Experience managing improvement projects focused on OEE and production throughput;
- Knowledge of food safety standards, GMP or HACCP principles;
- SAP PM or equivalent CMMS experience (namely Fracttal).
