Zühlke Group in Porto is seeking an embedded software engineer to work on a complex fire alarm system with over 3 microcontrollers and modern C++ on Zephyr RTOS.

You will collaborate in a multicultural Europe-wide team and contribute to reliable embedded software across hardware and software boundaries.

Applicants should have a degree in Embedded Systems or Electrical/Computer Engineering and 2+ years of embedded experience; English fluency is required.

Qualificações

• 2+ years embedded experience if not directly embedded-focused.
• Solid C++ foundation and broad software engineering view.
• Experience with microcontrollers (STM32) and RTOS (Zephyr a plus).

Responsabilidades

• Write and review modern C++ code for new features.
• Test features with unit tests and on hardware.
• Maintain Zephyr RTOS features for lower layers of the system.
• Investigate bugs by analysing logs and traces, find the root cause and fix it.
• Participate in agile meetings and program increment discussions.

The role

You’ll work on a complex fire alarm system comprising over 3 microcontrollers. You’ll get to work with cutting‑edge technologies such as modern C++ and RTOS (Zephyr) and be responsiblefor building one part of the system. You’ll work in a multicultural team distributed across Europe and collaborating in a hybrid work model.

How you’ll make an impact

• Write and review modern C++ code to implement new system features.

What’s important to us

• University degree in Embedded Systems, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related field (2+ years of embedded experience required if not directly embedded-focused)
• Solid foundation in C++ and an understanding that software engineering is more than just programming
• Practical experience in development of software for embedded systems
• Experience with microcontrollers and their peripherals (STM32)
• Experience with RTOS (knowledge of Zephyr will be considered a plus)
• You understand the requirements of systems regarding security, safety and quality and can build the system so that it meets them
• Fluency in English and enjoyment of working in a team distributed across Europe.
