Zühlke Engineering is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to develop features for a complex fire alarm system using modern C++ and Zephyr RTOS. You will contribute to hardware‑level software and collaborate with a multicultural team distributed across Europe, including a hybrid work model.

The role requires a university degree in Embedded Systems or Electrical/Computer Engineering and 2+ years embedded experience. English fluency and a passion for reliable, secure software are essential.

Qualificações

• University degree in Embedded Systems, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years embedded experience if not directly embedded-focused.
• Solid foundation in C++ and understanding of software engineering beyond programming.
• Experience with microcontrollers and their peripherals (STM32).
• Experience with RTOS (Zephyr preferred).
• Fluency in English and ability to work in a distributed team across Europe.

Responsabilidades

• Write and review modern C++ code to implement new system features.
• Test the features with unit tests and on hardware.
• Maintain and use Zephyr RTOS features for building lower layers of the system.
• Investigate bugs by analysing logs and traces, find root cause and fix it.
• Participate in agile meetings and program increment discussions.

The role

You'll work on a complex fire alarm system comprising over 3 microcontrollers. You'll get to work with cutting-edge technologies such as modern C++ and RTOS (Zephyr) and be responsible for building one part of the system. You'll work in a multicultural team distributed across Europe and collaborating in a hybrid work model.

What's important to us

• University degree in Embedded Systems, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related field (2+ years of embedded experience required if not directly embedded-focused).
• Solid foundation in C++ and an understanding that software engineering is more than just programming.
• Practical experience in development of software for embedded systems.
• Experience with microcontrollers and their peripherals (STM32).
• Experience with RTOS (knowledge of Zephyr will be considered a plus).
• You understand the requirements of systems regarding security, safety and quality and can build the system so that it meets them.
• Fluency in English and enjoyment of working in a team distributed across Europe.
