Qualificações

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Post-Doctoral Fellow to join our dynamic research team at the Botton-Champalimaud Pancreatic Cancer Centre. This prestigious center is dedicated to advancing pancreatic cancer research and treatment through innovative approaches and multidisciplinary collaboration. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research aimed at understanding the molecular, metabolic and immune mechanisms of pancreatic cancer progression and developing novel therapeutic strategies. Working within this state-of-the-art facility, you will have access to advanced technologies and a network of world-renowned experts in the field of pancreatic cancer. The successful candidate will work within the Cancer Systems laboratory led by Anguraj Sadanandam.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Design and conduct experiments to investigate pancreatic cancer biology, including tumor heterogeneity, tumor invasion and metastasis, tumor microenvironment, metabolism, and drug resistance mechanisms.

2. Develop and optimize in vitro and in vivo models of pancreatic cancer, including patient-derived organoids.

3. Utilize laser capture microdissection (LMD) and multiplex imaging system to study tumor classification, heterogeneity, and their interaction with surrounding tumor microenvironment (TME).

4. Analyze and interpret complex experimental data using advanced statistical and bioinformatic tools.

5. Present research findings at team meetings, conferences, and scientific symposia.

6. Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

7. Collaborate with other researchers and clinicians within the Botton-Champalimaud Pancreatic Cancer Centre and external partners.

8. Mentor and supervise junior researchers and graduate students.

9. Contribute to grant writing and funding applications.

10. Participate in translational research initiatives to bridge laboratory findings with clinical applications.

11. Engage in knowledge exchange and public outreach activities to promote pancreatic cancer awareness and research.

12. Prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for laboratory techniques and experimental protocols.

13. Contribute to the development and maintenance of quality management systems within the research facility.

1. Ph.D. in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.

2. Strong background in cancer research, preferably with experience in pancreatic cancer, pancreatic neuroendocrine cancer, RNA and immune biology and metabolism.

3. Expertise in molecular biology techniques, cell culture, and animal models.

4. Expertise in advanced imaging techniques (e.g., multiplex immunofluorescence, spatial profiling and analysis).

5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

6. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.

7. Track record of scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Preferred Skills:

1. Experience with tissue processing and sectioning.

2. Familiarity with next-generation sequencing and multi-omics data analysis.

3. Experinece in metabolic data analysis.

4. Experience in data analysis, cell annotation software.

5. Knowledge of drug discovery and development processes.

6. Experience with grant writing and securing research funding.

The Botton-Champalimaud Pancreatic Cancer Centre is a state-of-the-art facility comprising research laboratories, a day hospital, a surgical centre, as well as inpatient and intensive care facilities.The mission of the Botton-Champalimaud Pancreatic Cancer Centre is to develop new and effective treatments for pancreatic cancer. To accomplish this goal a multidisciplinary team of surgeons, clinicians, clinical trials specialists, cancer scientists, genomics experts and computational biologists work together to deliver world-leading outcomes for patients with pancreatic cancer.

The Botton-Champalimaud Pancreatic Cancer Centre is also closely integrated with the Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown. Members of the Champalimaud Research Programme (CR) and the Champalimaud Clinical Centre (CCC), work together to investigate fundamental biological processes and search for effective solutions to alleviate the burden of oncological, neurological and mental diseases, while providing state-of-the-art care to the patients of the CCC. With 479 members, including group leaders, postdocs, PhD and MSc students, research technicians and highly specialised research staff, the CR community encompasses 39 nationalities. Within the Lisbon Ocean Campus, CF will expand its research, technological development, innovation, and clinical practice in the digital therapeutics field.
