Job Description: Data Scientist - Hotels Auction Platform

We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join our Data Science/Machine Learning team, focusing on our Hotels Auction platform at Tripadvisor. Our Hotels business is a key resource for travelers planning their stays, and the auction platform connects travelers with hotel operators and OTAs. In this role, you will develop predictive models and analyze auction dynamics, deploying solutions online and iterating based on performance.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including ML scientists, analysts, product managers, engineers, and partner teams, to build ML-powered solutions that assess hotel value and traveler preferences. You will own projects and identify new opportunities for machine learning applications to enhance our business.

Responsibilities

1. Design and deploy machine learning models to address core business challenges.
2. Identify new opportunities for data science and ML in the Experiences space.
3. Prototype, evaluate, deploy, and maintain models in production.
4. Design A/B tests and analyze results.
5. Communicate model performance and insights to stakeholders.
6. Determine next steps for ongoing projects.

• Reliable and timely in deliverables.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or related field, or Master’s with 2+ years of experience.
• Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong foundation in machine learning and statistics.
• Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience with recommendation modeling is a plus.
• Experience with real-world data is preferred.
• Industry experience is a plus.
