Announcement for the attribution of a Research Grant - 1 vacancy

A call is now open for the attribution of 1 Research Grant within the scope of the project “Connected Manufacturing - Digital Transformation”, ref. 179826, co-financed by national funds, under the conditions of the “Aviso para Apresentação de Candidaturas nº 11/SI/2021”.

Scientific area: Mechanical Engineering or related areas

Specific Scientific Area: Computational simulation

Recipient category: Candidates holding a master’s degree enrolled in a PhD or similar program at the date of hiring.

Requirements for granting the fellowship:

  • Applicants may apply without prior registration in the course; proof of enrollment is required at the time of contract signing.

The following are eligible to apply:

  • EU nationals or citizens of third countries

Candidate requirements: Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields, with knowledge in Structural Analysis and Computational Simulation.

Application documents: CV, degree certificates or declaration of honor, recognition of foreign degrees if applicable.

Workplan: Modeling the interaction between PCB, solder, and underfill under thermal cycling, with results evaluated via activity reports.

Legislation: Research Fellowship Statutes, FCT regulations, and University of Minho regulations.

Host Institution & Supervisor: Algoritmi Center, University of Minho, supervised by Senhorinha de Fátima Capela Fortunas Teixeira.

Duration: 5 months starting June 2025, renewable up to 2 years for Master’s students or 4 years for PhD students.

Allowance: €1,309.64/month for non-degree courses, €1,040.98/month for Master’s students, paid on the 23rd each month.

Other benefits: Social security contributions and personal accident insurance.

Exclusivity: Activities performed under the fellowship are exclusive as per regulations.

Selection Panel: Composed of several university faculty members, chaired by Senhorinha de Fátima Capela Fortunas Teixeira.

Application assessment criteria: Merit based on academic path (40%), curriculum (40%), and motivation letter (20%).

Final ranking calculated as a weighted average; candidates scoring below 2.5 in any criterion are excluded.

Results disclosure & appeals: Provisional results via email, final results published publicly, with procedures for comments and appeals outlined.

Application process: Submit a letter with CV and certificates to divulgacao.innovativecarhmi@eng.uminho.pt before June 6, 2025. Missing documents or incorrect references may lead to exclusion.

Contracting: Formalized after document verification, within 6 months, with activities starting after approval.

End of fellowship: End upon work plan completion or expiration date, with a final report due within 30 days after conclusion.
