O candidato ideal deve estar matriculado em Mestrado em Engenharia Elétrica e de Computadores e ter conhecimentos sólidos em telecomunicações. A posição é temporária, com início a 16 de Junho de 2025, e oferece um salário mensal de 781,36 €.

Qualificações

• Estudante atualmente matriculado em Mestrado.
• Aprovação na disciplina de Sistemas de Telecomunicações Sem Fio.

Summary:
A research position for one Research Grant (“Bolsa de Iniciação à Investigação“) is open at Instituto de Telecomunicações, in the scope of the projects O-0003-LX-15 and O-0002-LX-19. These projects are funded by own funds.
The topic of the work will be "Energy and Spectral Efficiency Optimization in Multi-Radio-Access-Technology (RAT) Networks"

Scientific Area:
Wireless Technologies

Work Objectives:
The objectives of the work will focus mainly on obtaining methods with high spectral and energy efficiency for current and future mobile systems.

Place of work:
The work will be developed at the premises of Instituto de Telecomunicações – Lisboa, under the supervision of Professor Dr. António Rodrigues and Professor Dr. Pedro Vieira.

Duration:
5 months, with the possibility of renewal (according to the regulations defined by FCT). Start date: June 16th, 2025 or soon thereafter.

Cover letter explaining the interest in the position and relevant background, detailed Curriculum Vitae with transcripts, Copy of the relevant certificates (Copy of the Degree Certificate(s), if applicable); and proof of enrollment (or proof of acceptance) in a higher education course or declaration of honour confirming that complies with the conditions to enroll in the required/preferable higher education course.

Admission Requirements:
Research Initiation Grants are intended:
- for students enrolled in a professional higher technical course, undergraduate degree, integrated master's degree or master's degree, to undertake initial R&D activities, with a view to beginning their scientific training through integration in R&D projects to be developed in national institutions.
- for students with an undergraduate degree carrying out initial R&D activities who are enrolled in non-degree courses integrated into the educational project of a higher education institution, developed in association or cooperation with one or more R&D units.

In what concerns the admission requirements for this research initiation grant in particular:
- Currently enrolled in an MSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering
- Approval in the course Wireless Telecommunications Systems
- The candidate should have good knowledge of written and spoken English, be self-motivated and show initiative in solving problems.
The candidates are eligible if not awarded previously a scholarship funded direct or indirectly by FCT, celebrated according to “Estatuto do Bolseiro de Investigação”.

Additional Information

Monthly salary:
781,36 € according to the table of grant amounts awarded directly by Instituto de Telecomunicações.
The payment will be made by bank transfer.

Selection process

Selection criteria:

• C2 (30%)
  Previous experience in the aforementioned areas
• C3 (40%)
  Suitability of the candidate profile to the project

Each criteria, and the final classification F will be evaluated in a scale (0-20). The candidates will be ordered according to:
F = C1 x 30% + C2 x 30% + C3 x 40%
In case of a tie, the tied candidates will be ordered according to C1, then C2...
The Jury has the right to not admit any of the candidates that applied for this position whenever they consider that no candidate meets the minimum requirements for the position.

Results will be published at the Instituto de Telecomunicações, Lisboa. The selected candidate will be notified by email.
After the notification of the results, candidates have 10 working days if they wish to contest the decision.
