Job summary

Decskill is an IT consulting company with over a decade of experience, hiring for a DevOps/Platform/Data Engineering role. You will develop Python-based microservices, serverless APIs on AWS, and maintain data platform components in a dynamic team.

Based in Lisbon with projects spanning national and international contexts, this role emphasizes reliability, scalability, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver production-ready data solutions.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in DevOps, preferably in Platform Engineering or Data Engineering.
• Strong Python development skills, including classes, metaprogramming, data classes and type validation.
• Experience in API engineering, algorithmic patterns, AWS Lambda handlers, data transformation applications and automation scripts.
• Solid knowledge of AWS cloud services (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch).
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, conventional commits and merge requests.
• Shell scripting for operational automation and command-line tasks.
• Knowledge of data platform infrastructure and database operations.
• Experience with SQL and JSON/XML formats.
• Familiarity with streaming platforms (Confluent Cloud, Kafka).
• Knowledge of AWS Lambda configuration and ECS or container orchestration.
• Experience with containerised apps and cloud-native architectures.
• AWS certifications are valued.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development and maintenance of the DART data platform as part of the integration team.
• Act as the primary backup for the lead developer in architecture-related decisions.
• Conduct code reviews for infrastructure and automation changes to ensure quality.
• Develop, maintain and extend Python-based microservices, including Kafka consumer services on AWS ECS Fargate.
• Develop and maintain serverless REST APIs using AWS Lambda with versioning and aliases.
• Build and maintain scripts to automate recurring tasks and platform operations.
• Support Confluent CLI operations and automate infra and platform management.
• Work with AWS, Kubernetes, Confluent Cloud and Snowflake within an integrated data platform.
• Contribute to data products exposed via event streams, APIs and data stores.
• Support reliability, scalability and operational efficiency of services.
• Collaborate with development, infra and data engineering teams for robust solutions.

Act as the primary backup for the lead developer in architecture-related decisions, ensuring technical consistency and alignment with established standards. Develop, maintain and extend Python-based microservices, including containerised Kafka consumer services deployed as headless AWS ECS Fargate tasks. Develop and maintain serverless REST APIs using AWS Lambda, supporting data access and implementing API versioning and alias strategies. Build and maintain operational scripts to automate recurring tasks and streamline platform operations. Support Confluent CLI operations and automate infrastructure and platform management activities. Work with AWS, Kubernetes, Confluent Cloud and Snowflake within an integrated data platform environment. Contribute to the development and operation of data products exposed through event streams, APIs and data stores. Support the reliability, scalability and operational efficiency of data platform services. Collaborate with development, infrastructure and data engineering teams to deliver robust, production-ready solutions.

Familiarity with streaming platforms, particularly Confluent Cloud and Apache Kafka, including topics, producers and consumers. Knowledge of AWS Lambda configuration and AWS ECS or other container orchestration technologies. Experience with containerised applications and cloud-native architectures. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to troubleshooting and continuous improvement.
