Job summary

iLOF is seeking a hands-on Data Science Team Manager to lead day-to-day operations, set sprint plans, and drive projects from scoping to validation. You will align biology, photonics, engineering and clinical teams to deliver robust models and validated products.

You will mentor and grow the team, advance AI tooling adoption, and report progress to leadership. A track record in industry leadership and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Several years of industry experience leading data science, ML or engineering teams to delivery.
• Degree (MSc or PhD preferred) in a quantitative field such as electrical engineering, signal processing, physics, applied mathematics, statistics or computer science.
• Hands-on background in data science or ML, with a working understanding of modelling and validation.
• Strong software engineering practice for code quality, testing and reproducibility.
• Hands-on experience leading AI tools adoption with measurable gains.
• Track record of developing people through training, coaching and mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Data Science team day-to-day: set expectations, run 1:1s and feedback.
• Turn priorities into sprint/project plans; allocate people and track milestones.
• Be the first call for prioritisation and manage trade-offs.
• Keep projects on track from scoping to hand-over; flag risks early.
• Ensure software is built with version control, code review, testing and documentation.
• Bridge gap to production-ready deployable models and validated pipelines.
• Lead AI tools strategy and implementation; set guidelines and measure impact.
• Report progress, risks and decisions to leadership.
• Contribute to hiring and onboarding the team.
