Job summary

Emerging Travel Group is seeking an experienced DevOps/SRE engineer to own end-to-end observability for our infrastructure, including Trino, Kubernetes, databases, and Hadoop. You will drive automatic DORA metric collection and high-level uptime dashboards, closing gaps in monitoring across distributed systems.

You will optimize alerting with Alertmanager, reduce alert fatigue, and act as the go-to expert for monitoring to free leaders from routine dashboard work.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in DevOps/SRE with infrastructure monitoring focus.
• Strong knowledge of Prometheus, Grafana, and Alertmanager.
• Experience with Kubernetes and distributed storage.
• Skills in Python, Go, or JavaScript a plus.
• Understanding of SRE concepts: SLI/SLO/SLA and error budgets.

Responsibilities

Job description

Job responsibilities

• Unified Observability Framework: Develop end-to-end monitoring for all infrastructure stacks, including Trino, Kubernetes, databases, and Big Data (Apache Ozone and Hadoop).


• CTO Strategic Tasks: Implement automatic collection of DORA metrics and create high-level health dashboards to visualize service uptime.


• Elimination of Blind Spots: Audit current metrics and address gaps in infrastructure monitoring, particularly in K8s, databases, and distributed storage systems.


• Proactive Alerting: Optimize and update Alertmanager rules to intercept incidents and anomalies before they impact users or are manually detected.


• Relief for the Team: Serve as a single point of expertise in monitoring to free team leads from routine dashboard configuration and alerting support tasks.

• Experience from 3 years as Devops/SRE and from 5 years in IT.


• Knowledge of Python, Go/JS as a plus.


• Focus on SRE/Observability: Experience as an SRE or monitoring engineer with an emphasis on infrastructure reliability rather than product feature development.


• Expertise in Prometheus Stack: Deep knowledge of Prometheus, Grafana, and Alertmanager, including writing complex PromQL queries and addressing alert fatigue.


• Reliability Metrics: Practical understanding of SLI/SLO/SLA concepts, error budgets, and the methodology for collecting DORA metrics.


• Broad Technical Understanding: Experience with containerization (Kubernetes) and databases, as well as the ability to quickly grasp metrics of distributed systems (Hadoop, Trino).


• Systematic Approach to Incidents: Ability to translate abstract system behaviors and logs into clear, structured, and actionable metrics.
