What will be your role
We are looking for a Data Engineer with proven experience in the healthcare domain to join our team and help shape the data platform of a leading public healthcare organization in Europe. This is a project with real impact: you'll design and build the data foundations that turn clinical and health information into secure, high-quality, and interoperable data, supporting analytics, reporting, and better decisions across the healthcare system. You'll work in a cross-disciplinary team alongside data, security, and business specialists, taking ownership of key parts of a solution that handles some of the most sensitive data there is.
Your responsibilities will include
- Designing and implementing data models (conceptual, logical, and physical) for both operational (OLTP) and analytical systems, including dimensional models and star schemas;
- Building and operating ETL/ELT pipelines that integrate heterogeneous data sources, using Azure Data Factory, Synapse, dbt, or equivalent tools;
- Orchestrating data workflows and implementing data quality controls, validation rules, and pipeline monitoring;
- Ensuring the secure handling of health data, applying encryption, access control, anonymisation/pseudonymisation, and GDPR requirements across all environments;
- Supporting clinical data exchange and standardised data export, working with health data standards such as FHIR;
- Developing data models and dashboards in Power BI to deliver meaningful insights to stakeholders;
- Contributing to the responsible and structured use of AI in projects involving sensitive personal data;
- Taking ownership of work packages and deliverables, acting as a point of contact with stakeholders and driving continuous improvement;
What should you bring to the team
- 3-4+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering or data-focused projects;
- Proven experience in healthcare projects or working with health data (mandatory);
- Bachelor's degree (minimum) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field;
- Hands-on experience designing and operating ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines, ideally on Azure (Data Factory, Synapse);
- Strong data modelling skills (normalisation, OLTP, data warehousing, dimensional modelling) and proficiency in Python or R for data processing;
- Solid knowledge of information security and data protection, including encryption (TLS/HTTPS, AES-256), access control, and GDPR;
- Fluent English, written and spoken;
Nice to have
- Experience with health data standards, clinical data structures, and FHIR;
- Experience with Power BI (or equivalent), including data models and DAX measures;
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow;
- Knowledge of responsible AI practices in projects handling sensitive personal data;
- Previous involvement in digital transformation or strategic data projects;
What is in it for you
- An amazing informal culture of smart, hardworking, and friendly people who support and care about each other;
- A mentorship program from day one;
- The opportunity to work on a large-scale health data platform with real impact on the healthcare system;
- Formal training and certifications;
- Access to cutting-edge tools and technologies;
- A dynamic company where your ideas matter more than job titles;
- Flexibility with responsibility;
- A Rubber Duck to help you talk through those tricky data puzzles;
