Job summary

Alpineo Consulting is seeking a Data Engineer to join a fully remote team operating from Portugal. The role focuses on building and maintaining modern AWS data platforms, Lakehouse architectures, data pipelines, and scalable ELT solutions.

You will work on data ingestion, transformation frameworks, Iceberg tables, and pipeline orchestration to ensure production-ready data solutions. You will collaborate with domain teams to implement scalable ELT practices, performance tuning, and SDLC

Qualifications

• Professional experience as a Data Engineer
• Strong experience with AWS
• Experience with Lakehouse architectures
• Hands-on experience with Apache Iceberg
• Strong knowledge of ETL / ELT and data processing
• Experience with data pipeline orchestration
• Experience with performance tuning and optimisation
• Good understanding of data engineering best practices
• Experience with production data pipelines and troubleshooting

What You’ll Work With

• Support and develop data ingestion and transformation frameworks
• Design, maintain, and optimise Iceberg tables
• Manage compaction and retention processes
• Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines
• Troubleshoot and resolve pipeline and data processing issues
• Support domain teams in implementing scalable ELT and orchestration standards
• Contribute to performance tuning and optimisation
• Ensure data solutions are reliable, scalable, and production-ready
• Support release management and SDLC deliverables
• Contribute to data engineering best practices and platform standards

Requirements

• Professional experience as a Data Engineer
• Strong experience with AWS
• Experience with Lakehouse architectures
• Hands‑on experience with Apache Iceberg
• Strong knowledge of ETL / ELT and data processing
• Experience with data pipeline orchestration
• Experience with performance tuning and optimisation
• Good understanding of data engineering best practices
• Experience working with production data pipelines and troubleshooting
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Experience with AWS services such as S3, Glue, Redshift, Lake Formation, DataZone, MWAA, or Step Functions is a plus.
