Job summary

Claranet Portugal is seeking a Computer and Virtualization Engineer for our Talent Team in Lisbon. You will design virtualization and storage architectures, define disaster recovery and business continuity strategies, and evaluate new hypervisors and Kubernetes solutions.

You will also lead end-to-end migration projects, validate vendors, and support platform evolution while managing cloud capacity and standards adherence.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware vSphere, KVM) and Kubernetes architecture.
• Experience administering RHEL-based Linux, Ubuntu, or Windows Server.
• Proficient in scripting (Bash, Python) and automation (Terraform, Ansible).
• Experience with DevOps (Git, CI/CD) and observability (Prometheus, Grafana).
• Hybrid Cloud design and vendor/stakeholder management are essential.

Right now, we are looking for a Computer and Virtualization Engineer for a client on our Talent Team.

Your responsibilities include:

• Design virtualization and data storage architectures.
• Define Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity strategies.
• Technically evaluate and validate new hypervisors and Kubernetes solutions.
• Identify opportunities for functional improvements, define technical standards, and support the selection of technology partners through RFI/RFP processes.
• Technically assess and validate new vendors and partners.
• Lead end-to-end migration and platform evolution projects.
• Manage the logical capacity and performance of Cloud platforms.
• Support software and hardware licensing budget planning.

You must have:

• Proactive mindset with a strong interest in researching and adopting new technologies and features.
• Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere, KVM, and Kubernetes architecture.
• Experience administering operating systems such as RHEL-based Linux, Ubuntu, and Windows Server.
• Solid understanding of hardware and infrastructure systems, including servers, switching, storage, and TCP/IP networking.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Bash and Python.
• Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices, including Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience designing and managing observability platforms using Prometheus and Grafana.
• Strong technical project management skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Vendor and stakeholder management experience.
• Experience in Hybrid Cloud architecture.
