Job summary

Claranet in Lisbon seeks a Platform Automation Engineer to drive cloud infrastructure automation, focusing on reliability, performance and efficiency using Terraform, Kubernetes, and cloud-native technologies.

You will design and implement IaC, develop Terraform modules, support observability, and collaborate with DevOps and software teams. A strong Terraform/GCP background and scripting skills are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field or equivalent professional experience.
At least 2 years in Platform Engineering and 3 years with underlying technologies.
Professional experience with cloud platforms and infrastructure automation tools.
Strong knowledge of Terraform, including advanced provisioning patterns.
Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate or higher preferred.
GCP experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Contribute to architecture and development of cloud platform solutions aligned with business requirements.
Design and implement automation using Terraform and Crossplane v2.
Implement and manage infrastructure patterns for scalability, high availability, compliance, disaster recovery, and secure operations.
Develop and optimise advanced IaC patterns, including Terraform modules and state management; collaborate across teams.
Support observability practices, anomaly detection, and automated remediation.
Monitor platform performance, identify bottlenecks and propose improvements.
Maintain documentation covering architecture, processes and procedures.
Mentor junior engineers while learning from more experienced team members.
