Job summary

Globeducate International Schools within Nobel Algarve British International School in the Algarve, Portugal seeks a Chartered Accountant to join its finance team. You will lead financial reporting, budgeting and statutory compliance, working with school leadership to support informed decisions and safeguard resources.

You will collaborate with central finance and school teams in an international environment, ensuring accurate records, timely filings and strong controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field.
• Professional qualification as a Chartered Accountant or equivalent recognised accounting qualification.
• Significant experience in accounting, financial reporting and financial management.
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial reporting, taxation and statutory compliance.
• Experience with budgets, forecasts, audits and financial controls.
• Proficiency in accounting and financial management systems, as well as Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review and maintain accurate financial records and accounting information in accordance with applicable accounting standards and internal policies.
• Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, providing clear and accurate financial information to school leadership and the wider finance team.
• Support the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets, forecasts and financial plans.
• Monitor income, expenditure, cash flow and financial performance, identifying variances and providing analysis.
• Ensure timely completion of statutory accounts, financial reporting and other required submissions.
• Coordinate and support audits, ensuring documentation is accurate and complete.
• Maintain and strengthen effective financial controls to safeguard resources.
• Review transactions, reconciliations and provisions to ensure accuracy.
