The ideal candidate will have a degree in Accounting, at least 4 years of experience in an accounting role in Portugal, and be certified. Proficiency in both Portuguese and English is required, and knowledge of ERP systems, particularly Sage, is a plus.

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join the Accounting & Finance department of a company in the Healthcare sector, based in Santarem. This professional will be responsible for managing financial and accounting activities, ensuring compliance and efficiency in processes.

Description

• Own the full month-end and year-end close cycle, including general ledger, accruals, and trial balance;
• Maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable ledgers;
• Coordinate payroll with external payroll provider;
• Prepare and submit all Portuguese statutory filings: SAF-T, IES, VAT returns, Modelo 22, and statutory accounts under SNC;
• Serve as primary finance contact for year-end audit;
• Act as functional ERP owner - chart of accounts, period controls, financial module configuration;
• Approve supplier payment runs;
• Support the CFO on tax advisor coordination and any regulatory financial queries.

Profile

• Academic degree in Accounting or similar;
• Minimum 4 years of experience in an accounting role in Portugal;
• Certified Accountant (eliminatory);
• Strong working knowledge of SNC, Portuguese VAT, SAF-T, and IES requirements;
• Experience with ERP systems - familiarity with Sage is a plus;
• Comfortable working in a regulated or manufacturing environment;
• Fluent in Portuguese and English;
• Organised, detail-oriented, and able to work to hard month-end deadlines;
• Comfortable in a small, fast-moving team where you own your domain end-to-end.
