This is a Staff Software Engineer seat on a product engineering team. You will build modern applications that deliver real value with quality, and play a pivotal role in shaping the technology and raising the engineering bar, championing best practices, mentoring engineers, and driving technical decisions across teams.

Responsibilities

Engineering & code quality

  • Write clean, maintainable code in .NET C# that sets the standard for other engineers on your team, alongside modern tools such as Kafka and ElasticSearch.

  • Regularly deliver high-quality, working software as part of a software development team.

  • Build a deep, expert understanding of your team's codebase.

  • Provide highly insightful, comprehensive code reviews with an eye toward bigger-picture concepts.

Technical leadership & decision-making

  • Drive technical decision-making at a high level, expertly identifying trade-offs and risks and considering organisation-wide technical alignment.

  • Pre-empt technical risks, raise awareness, and coordinate mitigation.

  • Help provide direction and vision to technical improvements, and drive change across multiple teams.

Reliability & operations

  • Help define SRE standards so teams can effectively monitor their applications in production and respond quickly to incidents.

  • Effectively diagnose the root cause of complex bugs using deep knowledge of both code and infrastructure, and provide a fix along with an automated regression test.

Documentation & mentorship

  • Ensure documentation exists for all critical systems, and write technical guides used widely by other engineers.

  • Mentor, coach, and empower other engineers. Share knowledge regularly through demos and presentations.

  • Technical leadership experience (3+ years), including mentoring other engineers, e.g. leading projects or initiatives, leading a team, or organizing engineering community events.

  • A track record of quickly learning complex architectures and codebases and becoming an expert, and of tackling the most complex technical problems independently.

  • Evidence of driving complex technical decisions involving multiple stakeholders in critical areas.

  • Experience working in an Agile environment.

Technical skills

  • Expert C#.NET experience and expertise (10+ years).

  • Deep understanding of how to apply microservice architectures successfully, with expert knowledge of many patterns and techniques and their trade‑offs, in more than one context.

  • Experience with NoSQL databases, ElasticSearch (preferred), DynamoDB, MongoDB, or Redis, and a clear sense of which database best fits each use case.

  • Strong knowledge of deploying and scaling cloud applications, including containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).

  • Proven ability to identify opportunities for best‑practice improvements and drive change across multiple teams.

Languages

  • Fluent English required.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or a related field.

Soft skills
