Caixa Mágica Software is seeking a Java developer for the Risk Systems – Counterparty Measures team in Portugal. You will work on a highly distributed architecture, focusing on the Java side of risk calculation systems, implementing requirements from technical, regulatory, and business sources.

The role involves designing, coding, testing, and delivering high-quality software in an agile environment with CI/CD, automated testing, and continuous delivery.

Qualificações

• Hands-on experience with Spring.
• Knowledge of distributed systems technologies (Oracle Coherence, Cassandra, Kafka, Tomcat).
• Experience in testing from Unit to Acceptance Testing.
• Understanding of distributed systems programming patterns.
• Understanding of parallelisation techniques.
• Proficient English language skills.

Responsabilidades

• Oversee the production of quality software solutions in accordance with best practices (maintainable, secure, documented, scalable, testable, aligned with business needs).

The role is for a position within the Risk Systems – Counterparty Measures team in Portugal. The team is split into multidisciplinary squads implementing Scrum inside an agile at scale methodology. It works on three month Program Increments and two week sprints, following all the ceremonies typical of Scrum and Agile at Scale.

The team has as well completed the re-engineering of the counterparty risk system into a highly distributed architecture using a technology stack composed of big data solutions, data grids, compute grids, REST based architectures and a pricing and simulation engine that use Graphics Processing Units. The team also uses development practices such as Continuous Delivery to reduce time taken from development to delivery into production.

The successful candidate will work in a fast paced, agile environment in a multi-disciplinary team. The role is technical with elements of programming and design. It is primarily focused on the Java side of the counterparty risk calculation system. The developer will be working on implementing requirements coming from different sources: Technical, Regulatory and Business.

What will you do?

• Oversee the production of quality software solutions in accordance with the applicable best practices (maintainable, secure, documented, scalable, testable and in line with the business line’s needs), for the components and/or software segments assigned to them

• Help to optimise existing code and improve its maintainability
• Help to integrate software packages and in the definition of settings

• Review code and ensure that it is compliant with the principles and practices of the development teams while ensuring that the needs of the quantitative developers are met
• Hands on development of any tools/framework changes to meet requirements
• Testing, acceptance and release
• Implement and/or create a test strategy
• Install the product deployment tools in the different environments
• Upgrade and/or help to upgrade the documentation
• Help in implementing improvements to their activity and maintaining technical know-how
• Participate in internal and external developer networks to communicate and share best practices

What are we looking for?

• Hands on experience with Spring.
• Knowledge of distributed Systems and technologies (e.g. Oracle Coherence, Apache Cassandra, Spectrum Symphony, Kafka, Tomcat, etc.).
• Experience on testing, from Unit Testing to Acceptance Testing.
• An appreciation of distributed systems programming patterns.
• An appreciation of parallelisation techniques.
• English is mandatory.
• Great attention to details, precise and tidy.
• Self-driven, comfortable operating with a large level of autonomy.
• Ability to work well under short deadlines at times.
