Job summary

Axians Portugal is seeking a Backend Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services powering digital products. You will work in a modern engineering environment with cloud-native technologies, event-driven architectures, and microservices.

In this role, you will design solutions for cloud migrations (AWS), build deployment tools, improve architectures, and ensure scalability, security, and performance across environments.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Java development experience (Java 17/21).
• Experience with Spring Boot and microservices architectures.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL and Kafka messaging.
• Familiarity with cloud environments and containerized solutions.
• Knowledge of Git and CI/CD practices.
• Experience working in Agile teams; professional English proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Designing and architecting solutions for existing client facing applications moving to cloud environments (e.g., AWS).
• Designing and building tools and frameworks for deploying and managing platforms.
• Suggesting architecture improvements and process enhancements.
• Supporting and troubleshooting scalability, high availability, performance, monitoring, backups, and restores.
• Ensuring system security using cloud security best practices.
• Troubleshooting across platform and application domains.
• Creating, maintaining, and optimizing automated build and deployment pipelines.
• Working with Cloud Infrastructure on cloud migration of applications.
• Enabling other developers on cloud migration.

Backend Developer

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a Backend Developer to help design, develop and maintain scalable backend services powering innovative digital products. You will work in a modern engineering environment with cloud-native technologies, event-driven architectures and microservices.

What You Will Do On a Daily Basis

• Designing and architecting solutions for existing client facing applications as they are moved into cloud environments, such as, AWS;
• Designing and building tools as well as frameworks that support deploying and managing our platforms;
• Suggesting architecture improvements, recommending process improvements;
• Supporting and troubleshooting scalability, high availability, performance, monitoring, back-up and restores of different environments;
• Ensuring critical system security through the use of best in class cloud security solutions;
• System troubleshooting and problem solving across platform and application domains;
• Create, maintain and optimize automated build and deployment pipelines;
• Work with Cloud Infrastructure team on Cloud migration of applications;
• Act as enabler for other developers on Cloud migration.

Your Main Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience with Java development (Java 17 and/or 21);
