Mace is seeking an experienced Associate Director to lead Stakeholder Management and Communications for a major aviation infrastructure programme in Lisbon. You will guide engagement strategies, manage interfaces with clients and regulators, and influence senior decision‑makers to ensure project success.

You will oversee a team, foster collaboration across disciplines, and drive risk mitigation while aligning with client standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsabilidades

  • Directing the Stakeholder Management and Communications team across a major infrastructure programme.
  • Developing and implementing stakeholder engagement, communications, consents and interface management strategies.
  • Acting as the senior subject matter expert, providing strategic advice to clients and project leadership teams.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including senior executives, regulatory bodies, local authorities, delivery partners and community representatives.
  • Managing stakeholder‑related risks, issues and opportunities, ensuring appropriate mitigation and escalation where required.
  • Establishing governance, reporting and performance measures across stakeholder management activities.
  • Supporting programme planning, change management and decision‑making through effective stakeholder insight and engagement.
  • Ensuring all activities are delivered in compliance with client requirements, organisational standards and relevant regulations.
  • Managing, mentoring and developing high‑performing teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Supporting business growth activities, bid opportunities and the development of best practice across the wider organisation.

The project:

We are seeking an experienced Associate Director - Stakeholder Management and Communications to lead stakeholder engagement, communications, consents and interface management on a major aviation infrastructure programme.

This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal leadership role on a complex, high-profile project, working with senior client representatives, delivery partners, regulatory bodies and key stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.

As a trusted advisor and subject matter expert, you will establish and lead stakeholder management strategies that support programme delivery, manage risk, and enhance collaboration across a diverse and dynamic project environment.

Reporting into programme leadership, you will be responsible for directing the Stakeholder Management and Communications function across the programme, ensuring effective engagement strategies are developed and delivered throughout the project lifecycle.

You will work closely with clients, consultants, contractors and senior leadership teams to influence decision-making, manage stakeholder expectations and drive alignment across complex interfaces.

You’ll Be Responsible For
  • Directing the Stakeholder Management and Communications team across a major infrastructure programme.
  • Developing and implementing stakeholder engagement, communications, consents and interface management strategies.

You’ll Need To Have
  • You are a strategic stakeholder leader who thrives in complex infrastructure environments and has a proven track record of delivering successful engagement programmes on major projects.
  • Extensive experience leading stakeholder management and communications functions on large-scale construction or infrastructure programmes.
  • Significant experience developing stakeholder engagement, communications, consents and interface management frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of project delivery lifecycles and the interaction between stakeholders, risk, programme controls and delivery teams.
  • Experience working within highly regulated and complex environments.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Proven ability to engage and manage senior stakeholders, including executive and C‑suite level audiences.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing and developing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of business development and project‑winning activities.
  • The ability to manage ambiguity, navigate challenging situations and maintain positive outcomes under pressure.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience leading stakeholder management and communications services on major construction or infrastructure programmes.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering complex stakeholder engagement strategies across large, multifunctional project environments.
  • Chartered status, professional accreditation, or membership of a relevant professional institution such as the Association for Project Management (APM) or equivalent.
  • Degree qualified or equivalent professional experience.
