Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in Finance Operations, Accounting, or a similar role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Information Systems, Business Administration, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience in a similar role in the high-tech or start-up industry (strong advantage).
• Experience working with Salesforce, NetSuite, and Looker (strong advantage).
• Tech-oriented, with strong attention to detail and experience collaborating with Development, Product, Analytics, and other technical teams.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven mindset.
• Proactive, resourceful, and execution-focused, with the ability to think creatively and take initiative.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong time-management skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects.
• Familiarity with legal and contractual terminology.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Generate budget vs. actuals analysis, investigate and explain key variances, trends, and drivers.
• Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies and internal controls.
• Ensure detailed accounting documentation for legal, regulatory, and audit needs.
• Review revenue contracts for compliance and billing.
• Work with auditors on quarterly and annual audits.
• Perform manual billing calculations for certain terms using BI dashboards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate billing in financial statements.
• Partner with Development to address billing and operational issues.
• Coordinate with Account Managers to align workflows and track resolutions.
• Build weekly and monthly KPI reports.
• Support SOX compliance and related controls.
• Drive automation and FinOps initiatives.
• Train Sales teams on data entry and system usage.
• Collaborate with Deal Desk, Sales, Development, Product, and Legal teams.
• Manage monthly billing cycles and recurring inquiries.

About the Role

Riskified is seeking an Assistant Controller to support our expanding Finance team. In this high-impact role, you will build robust accounting infrastructure and controls while collaborating cross-functionally to drive company growth. We are looking for an analytical, self-driven finance professional ready to make a key contribution to a dynamic, scaling organization.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Generate budget vs. actuals analysis, investigate and explain key variances, trends, and drivers.
• Participate in the development, implementation, and maintenance of accounting policies and internal controls to comply with legislation.
• Ensure that detailed accounting documentation is compiled and maintained in support of relevant legal, regulatory, and audit requirements.
• Review revenue contracts for compliance with Revenue Recognition accounting guidelines and ensure appropriate billing.
• Work with the company’s auditors on quarterly and annual audits.
• Perform manual billing calculations for unsupported contractual terms using dedicated BI reports and dashboards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a seamless flow of billing information and its accurate representation in financial statements.
• Partner with Development teams to identify, investigate, and drive billing and operational issues through resolution.
• Work with Account Managers and Account Executives to align operational workflows, identify issues, and track them through resolution.
• Build weekly and monthly reports and monitor KPI’s.
• Support SOX compliance requirements and related controls.
• Drive operational improvement initiatives, including automation, AI tools, and FinOps workflow optimization.
• Guide and train Sales teams on accurate data entry and proper system usage.
• Work closely with Deal Desk, Sales, Development, Product, Business Applications, and Legal teams.
• Support and manage the monthly billing cycle, including recurring billing inquiries.

We include transparent salary ranges to support fairness, clarity, and informed decision-making early in the process. The base salary range for this position is €35,000 - € 40,000 gross annually for candidates based in Lisbon. Your actual salary will be determined based on your unique skills, experience, and competencies. If your expectations differ, please let us know - we’re always open to a conversation.
The base salary is one part of the total compensation package at Riskified. All full-time regular employees receive a bonus target and are eligible to receive stock-based awards.
