Sovos seeks an AI Tech Lead to guide the LLMOps foundation and architect patterns that empower every team to build and ship AI responsibly. You will lead the AI Platform team, align platform decisions with production goals, and mentor engineers across the organization.

You'll balance rapid experimentation with long-term architecture, set standards for prompt engineering, observability, and cost governance, and partner with product and architecture leads to scale AI capabilities.

Qualificações

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with production LLM-based or agentic AI systems.
• Strong LLMOps knowledge: evaluation, observability, prompts, cost/performance.
• Experience guiding or leading engineers or teams.
• Strong architectural instincts for scalable AI features.
• Hands-on with modern AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot).
• Full-stack depth; JavaScript/React and Java or .NET SOA is a plus.
• Excellent communication and mentoring abilities.
• Track record enabling other teams with tooling and documentation.

Within the Office of the CTO, the Sovos Platform organization is growing our AI Platform team - responsible for LLMOps foundation, tooling, and architectural patterns that let every engineering team at Sovos build and ship with AI responsibly and effectively. We're looking for an AI Tech Lead to guide that foundation from the inside. You will sit at the intersection of platform engineering, architecture, and enablement - leading the technical decisions that shape our LLMOps practice, guiding the engineers who build it, and acting as the connective tissue between the AI Platform team and every other team at Sovos learning to build with these tools. This is a highly visible role with a direct line to how AI gets used across the company.

The Work You'll Do

Guiding LLMOps Strategy and Team Execution

• You'll provide the technical leadership that keeps our LLMOps practice coherent as it scales - guiding the AI Platform team's day-to-day decisions and making sure the practice holds together as new models, tools, and use cases arrive.
• Guide and support the AI Platform team on LLMOps decisions: model selection, evaluation strategy, prompt and context management, observability, and cost governance
• Set technical direction for how Sovos deploys, monitors, and continuously improves LLM-based and agentic systems in production
• Establish standards and guardrails for prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks, and responsible AI usage across teams
• Own the health of our LLMOps tooling and observability stack, and make the build-vs-buy calls as the landscape evolves

Shaping Design and Architecture Decisions

• You'll bring architectural rigor to how AI capabilities get built into the Sovos Platform, ensuring new AI features are designed to scale and integrate cleanly with Core Platform, Sovos Identity, and our broader compliance infrastructure.
• Partner with architects and engineering leads to design AI-enabled features and agentic services, from prototype through production
• Review and advise on technical designs across teams building on the AI Platform, flagging risk and identifying reuse opportunities early
• Help define the architectural patterns and reference implementations (skills, MCP tools, agent frameworks) other teams build from
• Balance rapid experimentation with the long-term architectural integrity of the platform

Partnering with Teams Across Sovos

• Platform capabilities only create value once teams can actually use them. You'll be the primary technical point of contact for teams learning to adopt our LLMOps and AI toolsets, translating platform capability into practical, everyday workflows.
• Act as a trusted advisor to product and engineering teams adopting AI coding assistants, agentic frameworks, and platform APIs
• Run workshops, office hours, and hands-on sessions that teach teams how to use platform-level LLM Ops and AI tooling effectively
• Translate platform capabilities into clear guidance, playbooks, and Skills that make the right way the easy way
• Communicate AI Platform direction and adoption progress to engineering leadership, product stakeholders, and the broader organization

Leading and Growing the Team

• You'll provide day-to-day guidance and technical leadership to the engineers building the AI Platform, raising the bar on quality while keeping the team moving fast.
• Guide and mentor AI Platform engineers, providing technical direction, code and design review, and career development
• Foster a culture of rapid experimentation, rigorous evaluation, and continuous learning
• Remove blockers so the team can ship reliable AI capabilities quickly
• Partner with the Chief Architect on team structure, hiring, and roadmap prioritization

What We Need From You

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including meaningful hands-on time building and operating LLM-based or agentic AI systems in production
• Deep familiarity with LLMOps practice: evaluation frameworks, observability and monitoring, prompt engineering, cost and performance optimization
• Experience guiding or leading engineers, whether as a formal manager, tech lead, or through mentorship and technical authority
• Strong architectural instincts - comfortable making and defending design decisions that other teams will build on
• Hands-on experience with modern AI coding assistants and agentic development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar)
• Technical depth across full-stack development; familiarity with JavaScript/React and Java or .NET service-oriented systems is a strong plus
• Excellent communication skills - able to explain AI platform concepts clearly to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders
• A track record of enabling other teams: through documentation, shared tooling, workshops, or hands-on pairing
