Role Introduction

We are looking for a Senior AI Agents Engineer to help us build and scale the intelligence at the core of our product. This is a hands‑on engineering role for someone with strong software fundamentals and real experience building agentic systems in production. You will work closely with engineering, product, and leadership to shape how AI agents are designed, integrated, and evolved across real customer workflows. This role is ideal for a high‑agency builder who wants to own meaningful problems, make technical decisions, and help define the product as much as the implementation.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and improve AI agents that support grant discovery, application drafting, and post-award workflow management
• Develop production-grade backend systems in Python, including async workflows, orchestration layers, and integrations with LLM providers and external tools
• Work end to end across product and engineering to turn ambiguous problems into practical, scalable solutions
• Own technical decisions around agent architecture, prompting, tool use, memory, retrieval, and structured outputs
• Embed strong engineering practices across testing, CI/CD, version control, and deployment to ensure reliability and speed
• Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and leadership to stay connected to user problems and deliver measurable product outcomes

What You Bring

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong backend foundation and the ability to build robust production systems
• 1+ year of hands-on experience building AI agents or agentic systems, including concepts such as RAG, tool calling, orchestration, and memory
• Strong Python skills, including async/await, clean system design, and sound backend engineering practices
• Practical experience with LangChain and LangGraph, including prompt tuning, model selection, chains, tools, and structured outputs
• Clear communication skills in English and Portuguese, with the ability to explain technical trade-offs and write effective prompts
• A startup mindset with high ownership, comfort with ambiguity, and a strong bias toward action, iteration, and outcomes

Nice to Have

• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor
• Familiarity with AG-UI or similar frameworks
• Experience with Django, Celery, Docker, or Azure
• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Previous experience working in an early-stage startup environment
