Ideal candidates have 4+ years in QA, hands-on experience with testing tools like Cypress and Playwright, and excellent communication skills. The role requires physical presence in Lisbon.

AI QA Automation Engineer Lisbon (Hybrid)

Granter is building an AI Grant Consultant, an AI agent that handles grants for your organization, end-to-end. It helps companies discover funding opportunities, draft stronger proposals faster, and manage funded projects after approval.

Our mission is to enable businesses of all sizes to leverage incentives to grow and innovate. We are deeply involved in the Portuguese startup ecosystem and were the winners of the Web Summit Pitch Competition 2025.

We are now looking for an AI QA Automation Engineer to own quality across our product.

Quality engineering is being reinvented by AI, and we want someone genuinely excited to explore AI QA. This role has real space to explore new approaches to testing, such as evaluations (e.g. LLM-as-a-Judge). Prior AI experience isn't required - curiosity and a willingness to learn are. At the same time, you should already bring strong test automation skills (Cypress, Playwright, or similar) and the seniority to own quality end-to-end and to evangelise test-driven development across the team.

What This Role Involves

• You sit with the product team and are responsible for quality across the platform
• You work closely with engineering and product, understanding both the technical and customer perspective
• You identify bugs, inconsistencies, and edge cases early - including failures in AI outputs - before they reach users
• Define what should be tested, how, and at what level (manual, automated, or both)
• Build and evolve automated tests for high-value and repetitive workflows
• Build automated evaluations for our AI features (e.g. LLM-as-a-Judge)
• Proactively review product behavior to detect recurring risks and improve overall reliability

What We Are Looking For

We care more about evidence than years, but this role requires senior, hands‑on experience working on real products.

Experience

4+ years of experience in QA, Quality Engineering, or a similar role.

Proven track record building and maintaining automated test suites on real products.

Core Skills

• Hands‑on experience with tools like Cypress, Playwright, pytest, Postman, or similar
• Comfortable scripting in Python
• Comfortable debugging issues across frontend, backend, and APIs
• Ability to identify where something breaks, why it breaks, and how to communicate it clearly

Additional Plus

• Experience working in a startup environment
• Exposure to AI tools in testing or DevOps
• Exposure to evaluation frameworks

Communication

• Clear and direct communicator
• Able to document issues clearly and make them easy to act on
• Fluent in English and Portuguese

Location requirement

This role requires physical presence in Lisbon. Please do not apply if you are not currently based in Lisbon.
