Job summary

Tonik is seeking an independent web designer for long-term B2B cooperation. You’ll organize your own time and work location, delivering results your way. The role is non-exclusive and project scopes are defined per engagement, with collaboration across AI-powered design tools.

Ideal candidates have a strong portfolio, are Figma-native, and comfortable using AI in daily workflows. Remote with EU timezone, flexible cooperation hours, and a focus on startups.

We're a well-knit digital design studio working with products, brands and (ai-)code. Top founders come to us because we get early-stage like no one else. We help them define, build and scale future unicorns. That means we gotta try harder than Squarespace templates. Fair warning: this is not a place to coast. The pace is set by founders who move fast, and we like it that way.

We're looking for an independent web designer for a long-term B2B cooperation. You organise your own time and place of work and deliver the agreed results your way. Nobody here is breathing down your neck about what, when or how you do it. See a better route to the goal? Take it and take the cred.

The cooperation is non-exclusive: you're free to work with other clients, as long as it doesn't create an actual conflict of interest or breach confidentiality. Each project (scope, timeline, remuneration) is agreed separately, and taking one on is always your call.

What You’ll Do

• Design and ship high-converting websites for startups and high-growth businesses.
• Build outstanding design workflows that use AI to move from idea to prototype to production in days.
• Prototype custom AI-powered features - chat interfaces, generative tools, personalization layers - and bring them into real client work.
• Create storytelling-driven designs that captivate users and communicate brand narratives clearly and quickly.
• Integrate motion and interaction design using tools like Figma Make, Claude, Cinema4D, three.js.
• Collaborate with senior designers, developers, and founders to align design with business goals and conversion metrics.
• Explore creative tools and tech like 3D design (Three.js, Spline) and AI-native prototyping environments (Claude Code, Skills, .MDs, Figma Make, Gemini and whatever ships next month).
• Assist with copywriting - working with AI to draft, refine, and pressure-test messaging so design and text reinforce each other.
• Stay on top of the rapidly evolving AI + design landscape and bring fresh, well-considered ideas into projects.
• Participate in brainstorming sessions, design critiques, and discussions where you'll contribute creativity and sharpen your thinking.

It’s a match if you’re like this

• Have a portfolio that shows creativity, originality, and clear thinking - personal projects and experiments very welcome.
• Are Figma-native and comfortable picking up new tools quickly.
• Use AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, v0, Midjourney, Flora etc.) as part of your daily workflow - not as a gimmick. You have opinions about what works, what doesn't, and where the edges are.
• Have demonstrably efficient processes - you can walk us through a project where smart workflow choices turned weeks of work into days, without sacrificing quality.
• Understand storytelling and how visuals and words combine to communicate ideas.
• Think about conversion, not just aesthetics - you can defend why a design will perform, not just why it looks good.
• Are excited about prototyping custom AI solutions (interfaces, integrations, micro-products) even if you're early in the journey.
• Are curious about creative coding tools like GSAP or Three.js and eager to collaborate with developers on ambitious ideas.
• Have strong attention to detail and high standards for anything that leaves your hands.
• Are fluent in English and comfortable explaining design decisions directly to founders around the world.
• You've built or shipped a small AI-powered tool, prototype, or side project.
• You have experience prompting and orchestrating LLMs to do real design or research work - not just generating copy.
• Background in branding, digital marketing.
• Interest in or experience with the startup ecosystem.

The process

This selection process will require you to use AI. We’ll need a proof/log of your collaboration (for example an access to GPT session, Claude Code session, or .md files wrapping up your journey). We’ll use it to understand your thought processes, how you achieve specific results, how you cope with problems, solve issues and overall - how tech-savvy you are.
