Job summary

Hard Rock Digital is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to own technical direction for backend capabilities in the Promos domain. You will solve distributed systems problems, guide API and data service evolution, and elevate engineering standards across teams while staying hands-on with code.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in software engineering, strong Java/Spring expertise, AWS experience, and a track record of building scalable, resilient systems.

Qualifications

• Typically 7+ years of software engineering experience and distributed backend systems.
• Deep expertise with Java, Spring, and Spring Boot; strong patterns and standards.
• Experience with AWS, relational data systems, and scalable services.
• Experience with streaming/messaging systems and containers (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Interest in AI assisted development and responsible evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Own backend technical direction for Promos domain, aligning with platform standards.
• Guide architecture evolution, balance delivery, debt, and scalability with measurable outcomes.
• Build scalable promotion lifecycle capabilities with reliability and auditability.
• Define service boundaries and API contracts with Product, Web, Data, and Ops teams.
• Lead diagnosis across services using logs, traces, metrics to improve systems.
