Job summary

ShiftKey in Poland is hiring a Staff AI Engineer to own the AI infrastructure layer—the organizational knowledge platform, hosting and operating AI agents in the cloud, and the retrieval stack that powers both internal and customer-facing capabilities.

You will inherit retrieval foundations, design agentic infrastructure on AWS with cost guardrails from day one, and shape the platform API surface for developers and engineers across teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with at least 2 years building and operating production AI/LLM systems.
• Experience with retrieval beyond basics: hybrid search, re-ranking, query transformation, and context-window management.
• Hands-on experience with managed cloud AI platforms (AWS Bedrock or Azure AI Foundry) and cost governance.
• Proficiency in Go, Python, or TypeScript with ability to ramp to another language.

Responsibilities

• Evolve the AI knowledge platform to serve internal tools and customer capabilities.
• Architect and operate agentic infrastructure on AWS with cost guardrails and observability.
• Design graph-based retrieval across data sources for multi-hop queries and evolving knowledge.
• Define AI platform API surface with product engineering; create developer-ready abstractions.
• Build reference agent implementations for incident triage and customer support.
• Own the AI infrastructure cost model including spend monitoring and anomaly flags.
