Job summary

SmartRecruiters is seeking an Engineering Team Lead specializing in SRE to keep production reliable and observable. You will split time between hands-on work and management, shaping tooling and practices that boost system resilience.

You will mentor engineers, drive SRE initiatives, and partner with JVM-based and other stacks to ensure highly available services. This role supports a remote-friendly, hybrid environment with strong emphasis on collaboration and excellence.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional experience in software engineering or SRE.
• Knowledge of SRE and observability standards (SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, incident management, on-call).
• Experience with AWS/GCP, Kubernetes, IaC tools, and monitoring (ELK stack).
• Linux troubleshooting and performance tuning capabilities.
• Strong scripting skills in Bash, Go, or Python.
• Excellent English communication and coaching abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the SRE/DevOps team to improve reliability and resilience.
• Develop and advocate modern SRE practices across the organization.
• Collaborate with Java, Python, and Node.js engineers to ensure highly available systems.
• Respond to incidents, drive remediation, and implement follow-up improvements.
• Document standards for monitoring, alerting, incident response, and reliability.
• Drive cross‑team SRE initiatives and a culture of DevOps.
• Provide technical vision and leadership for the team.
• Coach engineers and grow high‑performing teams.
