Job summary

Supermicro is expanding its service team in the Netherlands. As a Datacenter Solution Engineer, you will join the Global Service Installation Team to rack, install, and cabling data center hardware.

You will provide on-site hardware and software support, collaborate with engineering for seamless integration, and perform post-install checks. Ideal candidates have 5 years in datacenter hardware servicing, a Dutch MBO4 or higher in CS/EE, strong English, and familiarity with Windows and Linux.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in servicing complex X86 systems in a datacenter environment.
• Dutch MBO4 in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• Strong English; Dutch a plus.
• Proficiency with Windows and Linux environments.
• Scripting knowledge (Bash, Python, PHP) is a plus.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical installation, rack and stack, cabling and networking of data center hardware.
• Assist/support in the implementation of server, storage and network equipment.
• Coordinate with the engineering team to ensure seamless hardware integration.
• Ensure hardware is installed correctly according to specifications.

• Provide first-line technical support to end users via telephone, email and ticketing system.

About the Position

As a Datacenter Solution Engineer you will be part of the Supermicro Global Service Installation Team and help build a world-class service organization. Carrying out racking and installation of server hardware, network equipment and cable routing of copper/fiber optic cables. You provide technical support for installed equipment with regard to hardware and software functionalities. You report to and assist the Solutions manager in the daily business and are also part of the service desk team that works on service tickets. You also assist with customer contact and carrying out hardware break fixes on location at customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform physical installation, rack and stack, cabling and networking of data center hardware.


• Assist/support in the implementation of server, storage and network equipment.


• Coordinate with the engineering team to ensure seamless integration of hardware solutions.


• Work with the engineering team to ensure hardware is installed correctly according to specifications.


• Perform quality checks and test functionality after installation.


• Provide first-line technical support to end users via telephone, email and ticketing system.


• Refer complex issues to higher level support teams when necessary.


• Be willing to travel (internationally and locally) to carry out installations at customers or solve problems in data centers, which includes occasional extended hours and weekend work.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in servicing complex X86 systems and components in a datacenter environment.


• Bachelor’s degree or Dutch MBO4 in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Electrical Engineering or comparable level obtained through experience.


• Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent command of the English language, Dutch would be a plus.


• Good understanding of Windows & Linux environments.


• Knowledge on scripting (Bash, PHP, Python, etc.) is a plus.


• Demonstrated hardware system analytics and diagnostics skills, as well as a good understanding of how BIOS, drivers, and application loads can cause system issues.


• Ability to work in a challenging, dynamic, and fast-paced environment. Must be solution-oriented, a team player with the ability to identify and elevate issues in a timely manner and be proactive in driving solutions.


• Emphasize break/fix and onsite Customer Service.


• Hands-on experience with Enterprise grade server hardware.


• Resident within a radius of 40 km of ‘s‑Hertogenbosch.
