Altimi, a technology acceleration partner, seeks a Solution Architect to lead a rapid AI-supported refactor of a large EdTech mobile platform. You will architect a headless React + Node.js stack, migrate content, and guide the client through workshops and architecture decisions.

You will work with a global client, design migration strategies, and ensure performance at scale while collaborating with the development team. This role is fully remote with flexible options.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software development with 3+ years in an architect role.
• Proven migration/modernization experience on legacy systems.
• Strong PHP/Laravel, plus Node.js and React knowledge.
• Experience with mobile apps and high-traffic architectures.
• Relational DB design and data migration expertise.
• Fluent English in speaking and writing.

Responsibilities

Role Overview

We are looking for a Solution Architect to lead a rapid, AI-supported refactoring of a large-scale self-learning mobile application for a European EdTech leader. The platform serves 2M users to date, with around 100k monthly and 50k daily active users. Your goal will be to design the target architecture and the migration strategy from a PHP/Laravel, SQL-heavy backend to a headless React + Node.js stack with a high-performance database, including automated migration of learning content. This is a client-facing role: you will work directly with the customer's stakeholders, run technical workshops and guide decisions.

Responsibilities

• Assess the existing PHP/Laravel application, data model and SQL business logic
• Design the target headless architecture (React + Node.js) and select the right database solution for performance and scale
• Define the migration strategy (e.g. phased/strangler pattern) that keeps the app running for live users
• Design an automated, AI-assisted approach to migrating learning content and data
• Define how AI refactoring tools are used in the delivery process, including quality and validation checks
• Lead workshops and technical discussions with the client, translate business needs into architecture decisions
• Support pre-sales activities: estimates, roadmaps, risk assessment and technical proposals
• Guide and review the work of the development team

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in software development, including 3+ years in an architect role
• Proven experience in legacy system migration or modernization projects
• Solid understanding of PHP/Laravel and strong knowledge of Node.js and React
• Experience with architecture for mobile applications and high-traffic systems
• Strong knowledge of relational databases and data migration; experience with high-performance databases
• Hands‑on experience using AI‑assisted development and refactoring tools (e.g. Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code)
• Consultant mindset: ability to build trust with clients, facilitate technical discussions and present architecture recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Fluent English (spoken and written)

Nice to have

• Background in EdTech or e-learning platforms
• Experience with React Native
• Pre-sales or technical consulting experience
