Job summary

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading and managing software engineering teams delivering cloud-native, highly available applications.
• Strong technical background in backend engineering, API design, distributed systems, and production operations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams through the full software development lifecycle.
• Experience managing engineering delivery, balancing technical debt, platform reliability, and business priorities.
• Strong coaching and mentoring skills with a passion for developing engineering talent.
• Experience collaborating with Product Management and business stakeholders to translate business objectives into engineering outcomes.
• Experience driving engineering best practices, including code quality, testing, security, DevOps, and operational excellence.
• Familiarity with banking, payments, or Open Banking (PSD2) ecosystems.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a data-driven approach to decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of software engineers through coaching, performance management, and career development
• Own engineering execution for multiple initiatives, ensuring high-quality delivery from design through development, deployment, and production support
• Drive technical excellence by promoting engineering best practices, architectural standards, code quality, security, testing, and operational excellence
• Collaborate with Product Management to prioritize work, manage delivery commitments, and align engineering efforts with business objectives
• Partner with Architecture, Security, SRE, and Platform Engineering teams to build scalable, resilient, and secure solutions
• Guide system design and technical decision-making while empowering engineers to solve complex technical challenges
• Establish engineering processes that improve delivery predictability, developer productivity, and operational efficiency
• Ensure production stability through effective monitoring, incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement
• Foster a culture of ownership, innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning across the team
• Drive adoption of automation, CI/CD, observability, and AI-assisted engineering tools to improve engineering velocity and quality
• Support hiring, onboarding, workforce planning, and succession planning to build a strong engineering organization
• Communicate engineering progress, risks, and strategic initiatives to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders
