Job summary

Mastercard seeks a Manager, Software Engineering — Connectivity within the Open Finance Europe – Connectivity team to lead an engineering unit delivering scalable API connectivity to financial institutions across Europe.

You will partner with Product, Architecture, Security, and business stakeholders to set priorities, improve platform reliability, and scale integrations across multiple European markets.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading and managing software engineering teams delivering cloud-native, highly available applications.
• Strong technical background in backend engineering, API design, distributed systems, and production operations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams through the full software development lifecycle.
• Experience managing engineering delivery, balancing technical debt, platform reliability, and business priorities.
• Strong coaching and mentoring skills with a passion for developing engineering talent.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of software engineers through coaching, performance management, and career development.
• Own engineering execution for multiple initiatives, ensuring high-quality delivery from design through development, deployment, and production support.
• Drive technical excellence by promoting engineering best practices, architectural standards, code quality, security, testing, and operational excellence.
• Collaborate with Product Management to prioritize work, manage delivery commitments, and align engineering efforts with business objectives.
• Partner with Architecture, Security, SRE, and Platform Engineering teams to build scalable, resilient, and secure solutions.
• Guide system design and technical decision-making while empowering engineers to solve complex technical challenges.
• Establish engineering processes that improve delivery predictability, developer productivity, and operational efficiency.
