Job summary

Thrive IT Systems seeks a Senior Backend Engineer to design, implement, and maintain internal tooling and backend services across CTO Platforms. You will collaborate with architects and engineers to translate business needs into scalable solutions, integrating PostgreSQL and enterprise data sources.

You will develop AI-driven workflows and ensure security, resilience, and observability across deployments. The role emphasizes API design, tool integration patterns, and production engineering

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering expertise using Node.js and/or Java.
• Experience designing and developing enterprise backend services and APIs.
• Strong PostgreSQL experience including data modelling and query optimisation.
• Knowledge of Agentic AI and Autonomous AI Agent orchestration.
• Experience implementing MCP Model Context Protocol and API integration patterns.
• Experience with Tool Calling and Function Calling integration patterns.
• Strong API design and integration experience.
• Solution design and architecture for enterprise platforms and tooling.
• Understanding Production Engineering practices including security, resilience, performance, observability, automated testing.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management; able to work with global teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain internal tooling supporting FSA initiatives across CTO Platforms.
• Develop backend services and APIs using Node.js and/or Java.
• Integrate applications with PostgreSQL and other data sources.
• Design and enhance web interfaces for architects and engineering teams.
• Build AI workflows using autonomous AI agents.
• Orchestrate AI agents to automate build, test, deployment, and engineering tasks.
• Implement MCP toolcalling, functioncalling, and API patterns.
• Collaborate with architects and engineers to translate requirements into solutions.
• Ensure solutions meet security, resilience, performance, testing, observability, and supportability standards.
• Contribute to code reviews, DevOps practices and operational support.
• Continuously improve tooling and platform capabilities.

• Design build and maintain internal tooling that supports Future State Architecture FSA initiatives across CTO Platforms
• Develop backend services and APIs using Nodejs andor Java
• Integrate applications with PostgreSQL and other enterprise data sources
• Design and enhance webbased user interfaces for architects and engineering teams
• Build and manage agentic AI workflows using autonomous AI agents
• Orchestrate AI agents to automate software build testing deployment and engineering tasks
• Implement MCP toolcalling functioncalling and API integration patterns
• Collaborate with architects platform engineers and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Ensure solutions meet security resilience performance testing observability and supportability standards
• Contribute to code reviews automation DevOps practices and operational support
• Continuously improve internal tooling engineering processes and platform capabilities

To be successful in this role you should have
