Job summary

Brown Brothers Harriman in Kraków is seeking a Senior Systems Business Analyst for the FX team. You will lead analysis and define solutions for business-critical applications used by BBH FX traders in New York, partnering with senior stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

The role requires strong ownership and the ability to translate complex business needs into clear requirements, with SQL, APIs, data flows and SDLC/Agile practices. Hybrid work model: 3 days in office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Banking, Economics, Finance, CS or MIS preferred.
• 5+ years in systems or business analysis, with ownership of complex requirements.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence and MS Visio or similar tooling.
• Ability to lead analysis activities and influence decisions without direct authority.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to structure ambiguous problems.
• Solid SDLC and Agile delivery understanding, including testing and release readiness.
• Technical fluency to work with engineers and architects (SQL, databases, APIs).
• Experience with front-office apps, controls or production support is a plus.
• Knowledge of FX, capital markets or financial services tech is a plus.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and organizational skills.
• Fluent English.

Responsibilities

• Build deep knowledge of FX processes, architecture, data flows and integrations.

• Facilitate workshops with traders, ops, product owners, architects and devs.
• Produce high-quality analysis docs: requirements, use cases, data models, and traces.

• Collaborate with architecture and engineering on non-functional and data needs.
• Provide day-to-day guidance to delivery teams and support impact assessments.
• Define testing approach, review coverage, coordinate UAT and release readiness.
• Lead business readiness and release activities including training and docs.
• Manage changes, decisions, assumptions, and risks with clear status updates.
• Contribute to backlog refinement and roadmap prioritization.
• Champion Agile methods and adapt analysis techniques per initiative.

About the team

We are seeking an experienced, technically skilled, and self-motivated Senior Systems Business Analyst to join our Foreign Exchange team in Krakow. In this role, you will lead the analysis and definition of solutions for business-critical applications used by BBH FX traders in New York. You will partner with senior business and technology stakeholders, shape solution scope and priorities, and drive high-quality outcomes across the full project lifecycle. The role requires strong ownership, sound judgment, and the ability to translate complex business needs into clear, actionable requirements and sustainable system solutions.

In our team, you will be responsible for:

• Build and apply deep knowledge of FX business processes, system architecture, data flows, integrations, and application functionality to assess business needs and solution feasibility.
• Lead requirements discovery for complex initiatives, define scope and objectives, identify dependencies and risks, and recommend practical solution options.
• Facilitate workshops and discussions with traders, operations, product owners, architects, developers, QA specialists, and other stakeholders to align priorities and resolve ambiguity.
• Produce and maintain high-quality analysis documentation, including business and functional requirements, use cases, process and data-flow models, screen designs, acceptance criteria, and traceability matrices.
• Act as a trusted liaison between business and technology teams, constructively challenging requests and ensuring that proposed solutions deliver measurable business value.
• Partner with architecture and engineering teams during solution design, validating that non-functional, data, control, and operational requirements are understood and addressed.
• Provide day-to-day guidance to delivery teams, clarify requirements, support impact assessments, and lead root cause analysis for complex production or testing issues.
• Define and support the testing approach, review test coverage, coordinate user acceptance testing, and ensure that solutions meet agreed business requirements and quality standards.
• Lead business readiness and release activities, including implementation planning, release communications, training, user documentation, and post-release validation.
• Proactively manage requirement changes, decisions, assumptions, and open issues while communicating status, risks, and trade-offs clearly to stakeholders.
• Contribute to roadmap and backlog refinement, helping prioritize work based on business value, risk, dependencies, and delivery capacity.
• Champion Agile principles and collaborative ways of working while adapting analysis techniques to the needs of each initiative.

What we're looking for:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree; a field such as Accounting, Banking, Economics, Finance, Computer Science, or Management Information Systems is preferred.
• At least 5 years of proven experience in systems or business analysis, including ownership of complex requirements and delivery across the systems development lifecycle.
• Experience using tools such as Jira, Confluence, and MS Visio or equivalent process-modelling tools.
• Demonstrated ability to lead analysis activities, facilitate senior stakeholder discussions, and influence decisions without direct authority.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to structure ambiguous problems and communicate clear recommendations.
• Solid understanding of SDLC and Agile delivery practices, including backlog refinement, acceptance criteria, testing, and release readiness.
• Technical fluency sufficient to work effectively with engineers and architects, including knowledge of SQL, databases, APIs or system integrations, data flows, and infrastructure concepts.
• Experience with business-critical front-office applications, controls, regulatory change, or production support.
• Knowledge of foreign exchange, capital markets, trading workflows, or financial services technology is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, facilitation, negotiation, and organizational skills.
• Fluent English.
