Job summary

Equinix is seeking a Senior Staff Platform Engineer to join the Platform Infrastructure Engineering team. You will design solutions for monitoring, troubleshooting, and telemetry across the Equinix worldwide network.

The role requires building robust architectures for large-scale data, setting standards for engineering teams, and delivering automated, high‑performing systems globally in an agile environment.

Qualifications

• Strong experience managing on-premises Kubernetes clusters at scale.
• Deep proficiency in Linux systems.
• Hands-on experience with Proxmox and/or VMware.
• Proficiency in virtualization and containerization (e.g. QEMU, KVM, LXC, Docker).
• Experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet/Ansible/Chef.
• Familiarity with observability tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
• Proficiency with CI/CD tooling (e.g. ArgoCD, Argo Rollouts, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
• Familiarity with secrets management processes and tooling, such as HashiCorp Vault.
• Background in distributed systems.
• Experience with networking and routing is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Drive infrastructure automation for configuration management of 2,000+ VMs, dozens of Kubernetes clusters, and 600+ on‑premises servers, ensuring consistency across 120+ distributed Equinix data centers
• Collaborate with global teams on security, networking, and platform standards
• Implement GitOps practices for deployments, drift management, and developer portal
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal customers and product stakeholders to design effective and scalable solutions
• Work with technical project managers and product management teams to define and plan multiple projects
• Participate in on‑call shifts with clear processes and support
