Job summary

Pivotal Solutions is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to work on a modern tech stack with distributed microservices, containerized cloud infrastructure, and data-intensive systems. You will translate business needs into scalable software solutions and mentor junior engineers as part of a collaborative, Agile team.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in Java, strong AWS and data modeling experience, and a product-focused mindset with excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• Five or more years in Java software development (8 or 11+).
• Experience architecting software solutions on AWS.
• Experience with data modeling and relational database design/implementation.
• Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB and Cassandra.
• Experience with enterprise integration patterns and managing microservices in containerized environments (Spring Boot, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with knowledge graph technologies and techniques.
• Proficient in Python.
• Experience with Git/GitOps and building CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins or AWS Code pipelines).
• Product-oriented mindset and ability to deliver independently or in teams.
• Proven track record of designing, developing, and releasing software products.
• Creative, proactive thinker with strong communication to technical and business stakeholders.
• Passion for energy and the environment.
• BS or MS in software engineering, computer science, or related field

Job description

The senior software engineer positionis focused on a modern technology stack using the latest software development frameworks, data-intensive distributed microservices, relational and nonrelational database management systems, and containerized cloud infrastructure within a well-established continuous-delivery and Agile development process. You’ll help us with our mission and commitment to a sustainable future.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in Java programming, Docker, and data modeling. You should have strong knowledge of software design patterns and be able to work both independently and through team collaboration. You should be able to break down complex software initiatives into clear and manageable developer-ready user stories. You must be able to review your peers’ code and provide recommendations, and willing to stay up to speed on the latest trends in distributed systems, containerization, microservices, and event-driven technologies. You should have strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and mentor the junior engineers on the team.
