Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a highly experienced Principal Silicon Systems Engineer to lead DSP/embedded software efforts and hardware accelerators for custom communications silicon. You will drive HW/SW partitioning, performance modeling, and pre-silicon development, guiding RTL, DV, and silicon bring-up with senior teams.

You will mentor engineers, shape architecture, and ensure robust integration across software, processors, accelerators, and RTL blocks in a complex SoC environment.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or closely related field.
• 12+ years hands-on experience in ASIC/SoC, embedded systems, DSP, or related semiconductor development.
• Deep experience across hardware/software boundaries in complex SoCs.
• Strong understanding of SoC processors, accelerators, memory, interconnects, and peripherals.
• Experience mapping DSP algorithms to programmable processors and hardware accelerators.
• Experience with RTL, verification, and ASIC implementation teams.
• Experience with pre-silicon development environments (simulation, FPGA prototyping, emulation).
• Ability to debug跨 processor, software, RTL, accelerator, and system boundaries.
• Demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring ability.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical implementation plan across DSP, software/firmware, processors, and hardware accelerators for custom communications silicon.
• Determine partitioning of functions between software and hardware based on performance, latency, power, memory, and complexity.
• Translate requirements into workstreams, interfaces, and implementation plans for DSP and embedded software teams.
• Guide architecture and integration of DSP workloads across embedded CPUs, custom processing elements, and accelerators.
• Develop system and performance models to analyze load, throughput, latency, and data movement.
• Ensure modem and DSP algorithms map efficiently to real-time silicon implementations.
• Provide guidance for low-level software/firmware interacting with silicon, processors, and hardware interfaces.
• Define interfaces between software, processors, accelerators, and RTL blocks; ensure robust integration.
• Drive pre-silicon development via simulation, FPGA prototypes, emulation, and other platforms.
• Collaborate with RTL/DV teams on system-level verification and debugging across domains.
• Lead silicon bring-up and integration, with performance correlation across software and hardware.
• Mentor engineers, conduct technical reviews, and raise the team's technical bar.
