Job summary

Bitcoin.com is seeking an experienced backend engineer to join a fully remote team across Europe. You will design and build core services, APIs, data models, and help shape the system architecture as we scale.

You will own significant pieces end-to-end, mentor engineers, and drive architectural decisions while maintaining code quality and reliability in production environments. Fluency in English and a proactive, self-driven work style are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience owning production systems, not just shipping features.
• Strong Rust, Go, Java or Kotlin; production Rust strongly preferred.
• Proven experience designing REST APIs at scale; contracts, versioning strategy, and judgment about aging.
• Deep experience with AWS or equivalent, containers, and CI/CD, including building or hardening these systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the core services behind the product: APIs, data models, integrations, and make architectural calls shaping the system for years
• Own significant pieces of the product end-to-end, from design through production, including on-call ownership and incident response
• Partner with Product and Design to shape requirements and enforce robustness under real-world load
• Set the technical standard for the codebase: write maintainable code and mentor the team to that bar
• Drive architecture decisions while foundations are laid and know which decisions are expensive to reverse
• Mentor engineers and raise the team's practices around testing, instrumentation, and code quality
