Job summary

Kraken is seeking an experienced software engineer to design and implement robust Rust services that power core infrastructure. You will write scalable, testable code and collaborate on large distributed systems architectures to enable low-latency trading and internal platforms.

You will join a team of Rust engineers, contributing to a security-first, ownership-driven culture that prioritizes safety, reliability, and observability across global systems.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience building and scaling shared systems and internal platforms.
• Proficient in writing network services or asynchronous Rust code.
• Security-first mindset in system design to ensure robustness.
• Autonomously debug issues across OS, network, and application stack.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems including RPC protocols, Kafka, and event-driven architectures.
• Collaborate with product teams to gather requirements and constraints for designing appropriate systems.
• Take complete end-to-end ownership of systems and libraries.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Rust services and foundational libraries powering Kraken’s core infrastructure.
• Write reusable, testable, and efficient code for scale, observability, and resilience.
• Collaborate on large-scale distributed systems architecture for low-latency, fault-tolerant services.
• Work with hundreds of Rust engineers to maintain high engineering standards.
