Job summary

Kraken is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Consumer team and help build the simplest way for customers to interact with Kraken. You will shape the technical direction of Rust backend services powering trading, payments, and crypto experiences, delivering world-class reliability and performance.

You will own features end-to-end, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product leadership to align roadmaps.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend engineering experience with Rust proficiency across network services and distributed systems.
• Owning systems and making architectural decisions in production.
• Product engineering mindset with end-to-end delivery and impact.
• Mentoring, design reviews, and setting team standards.
• Experience leading work across teams and aligning long-term plans.
• AI-first development approach using AI for coding and understanding codebases.
• Ownership mindset and collaboration beyond backend.
• Open to AI-driven development and shipping valuable products.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture and delivery of customer-facing Rust backend services powering trading, payments, and crypto experiences.
• Turn ambiguous multi-quarter problems into shipped and measurable outcomes.
• Own features end-to-end, extending beyond API/backend boundaries to impact UX and product metrics.
• Partner with product leadership to shape roadmap and define success metrics.
• Drive cross-team initiatives across Kraken's trading infrastructure and platforms.
• Mentor mid-level engineers, review designs, and establish reusable patterns.
• Leverage AI to increase scope and speed and define good AI-assisted engineering.
